Bulldog JV Football Report

By Brady Keane
BHS coaching staff

Freshman Jeffry Thomas accounted for four total touchdowns in his first start at quarterback, running for two and throwing for two more to lead the Bulldogs to a 36-8 win over Pearsall on the road Thursday night.
Bandera got on the board first when Julian De La Paz recovered a fumble, setting up a 34-yard touchdown pass from Thomas to Ibraham MacNeil.
Cristian Garcia-Carillo connected with MacNeil on the two-point conversion, and the Bulldogs led 8-0.
Bandera made it 15-0 later in the first quarter when Thomas broke off a 46-yard touchdown run behind an important block from Colten Hauer and Garcia-Carillo added the extra point.
After another stop from the Bulldogs defense, Thomas connected with MacNeil again on a 59-yard touchdown pass. Garcia-Carillo’s extra point made it 22-0 Bulldogs, but the Mavericks were able to get on the board just before the half to make it a two-score game at the break.
The Bulldogs opened the third quarter with another defensive stop and then provided some fireworks on special teams when Kyle Lowe fielded a punt and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown to extend the lead to 29-8.
An interception by De La Paz and a forced fumble two possessions later helped the Bulldogs maintain lead, and Thomas broke off an 85-yard touchdown run to push the score to 36-8 for Bandera.
Thomas finished with 266 total yards, going 6-171 rushing and 3-7-95 in the passing game, to pace the Bulldog offense while Riley Moran rushed for 28 yards on five carries and De La Paz added 24 yards on five carries. MacNeil added three catches for 95 yards and two scores.
The offensive line of Logan Harman, Cade Carriger, Jackson Satterfield, Nate Evans, Brayden Franklin and Benton Cloudt did a great job of moving the line of scrimmage and creat ing running lanes for the Bandera backfield.
Defensively, Jackson Satterfield, Julian Torres Micah McCreary and Caleb Tippit played a big role in holding the Pearsall offense in check and De La Paz came away with a fumble and an interception.
The JV Bulldogs are now 5-2 on the season and will return to action at Bulldog Stadium Thursday night against Devine.
