41st annual Medina Lake Cajun Festival nets $65k for Lakehills Community Center programs
The Lakehills Civic Center announced today that the 41st annual Medina Lake Cajun Festival was a great success and reached a record-breaking profit. With over 80 vendors, five bands and the best Cajun Food west of Louisiana, the Festival was well-attended by locals, as well as people from all over the world.
The event raised over $65,000 in profit according to Lakehills Community Center Treasurer Linda Morris.
“This was an even better year than previous years as our volunteers and processes worked well and cohesively together to increase profitability to insure the financial health of this great local organization. Without them, we couldn’t do this every year for the past 41 years,” Morris said.
“What was started as simple quick fundraiser to help the Civic Center 41 years ago has blossomed into the best and biggest Cajun Festival Event in Texas. We are proud to host it each year and our volunteers make the difference. They start working hard six months prior to the Festival, and even as we finish this year’s event, we are beginning to plan and improve next year’s event. The fact that we had a record-breaking profit for this year’s festival shows that we weren’t forgotten when so many businesses had to shut down in 2020. We were happy to see so many return visitors to the Festival this year,” Cajun Festival Director Barbara Engel said.
“The hundreds of volunteers who support the Cajun Festival directly support the mission of the Lakehills Community Center, which is to provide service to Lakehills and Bandera County residents. Without this great team of volunteers for now over 41 years, we wouldn’t have been able to achieve another successful, but “fun-raiser” for the Community Center,” Cajun Festival Publicity Coordinator and Finance Director Ron Clarke said.
“There are great things ahead for the Community Center in Lakehills. Because of everyone’s kind volunteerism and community as well as Bandera County support, a lot of improvements are about to be made including a revamping of our website, on-site improvements, and other plans to increase the impact of services we provide to the local community. We anticipate a fantastic 2023 at the center,” Community Center Publicity Director Gracie Garza said.
The Lakehills Civic Center provides an outlet for a variety of events monthly to include, quilting, yoga, cooking classes, club meetings, support of 4H, community dances, weekly and monthly dinner for seniors and much more.
