Save the dress fleas - and buy some cool stuff

The Frontier Times Museum is asking the public to help save its dressed fleas by coming to the museum’s annual Fall Super Yard Sale. The sale will take place on Thursday, Nov. 17 and Friday, Nov. 18, on the museum grounds from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds from the sale will be used to not only care for the museum’s dressed fleas but will also help support the museum’s operations and educational programs.
Get an early start on your Christmas shopping when the museum cleans out its storage room to sell a unique blend of artwork, household items, vintage kitchenware, decorative items and Christmas decorations. Historical books and reproduction maps will also be among the unique finds.
“The museum has an off-site storage area that over the years has become overflowing,” Museum Director Rebecca Norton said. “We have original artwork left over from our Jailhouse Art Shows, vintage treasures, folk art, and anything else you can find in a museum’s attic. We also have very generous donors in Bandera who donate to the sale throughout the year to help raise funds for the museum.”
Unique to this year’s sale will be two pop-up stores – Sewing Notions by Margaret and Beckie’s Basement. Sewing Notions by Margaret offers a unique selection of fabrics, including vintage fabrics, sewing and quilting notions and books, vintage sewing patterns, a vintage sewing machine and cabinet, and decorative items and tchotchkes for the quilters on your Christmas list. Beckie’s Basement features mid-20th century collectibles, artwork, and other vintage treasures.
The dressed fleas are just one of the amazing displays inside the museum. The Frontier Times Museum is located at 510 13th Street, Bandera, Texas. For more information, call 830-796-3864 or visit www.frontiertimesmuseum.org.
