In the second half, the boys looked to get some momentum to keep them in the game, but in the end the Bulldogs fell short.

The A team looked to have a strong start to their season right after the B team's game.
In the first quarter, the boys had a good start moving the ball up the court scoring nine points led by Dalton Parks.
Defensively, they held Devine to nine points to stay in the game with some clutch rebounds and blocks by Byron Keeling. In the second quarter, the Bulldogs had some extra success on both sides of the ball with strong defense and putting themselves ahead at the end of the half, 19-16.
In the third quarter, the Bulldogs scored 16 points with points made by Logan Spangler, Parks and Keeling putting them up, 35 to 28, going into the fourth.
Devine mounted a comeback bid in the fourth and went ahead with four minutes left in the game, but the Bulldogs did not quit. With a few great stops on defense, some solid rebound and capitalizing on free throws, Bandera was able to bounce back and come away with a 48-43 victory.

Seventh grade
"A"
The "A" team battled a close game with the Devine Warhorses and ended up on the short end of a 30-26 decision, moving the teams record to 0-1 on the season.
The team played very aggressive defense and attacked the basket offensively. Overall, this team played with guts and pride all night against a much taller Devine team. They never backed down and battled until the last whistle blew.
Bandera scoring
Points: Chris Martinez, 9, Micah Toomire, 9, Malachy King, 4, Mack Pate, 3, Carter Hanks, 1
"B"
The "B" team played a hard-fought battle with many of these players in their first organized basketball game ever and have grown so much in the short amount of time together.
Although the score, 35-0, did not reflect the growth this team has made, they played hard and competed all game. Kolbie Vance handled the point guard duties for most of the night and performed very well. Donald Lee was a force in the paint on the defensive side of the ball.
GIRLS
Eighth grade
"A"
The Lady Bulldogs traveled to Devine after a hard week of practice and fought a hard battle but fell to the Fillies 51-12 after they were able to get past our press.

Seventh grade
"A"
The "A" team found themselves playing Devine again and we have improved! Our defense played big and us being down a player, each girl then had a bigger job to overcome. We are starting to play for each other and the name across the chest!
The Lady Bulldogs did lose by a score of 36-15.
Bandera scoring
Points: Zoey Taylor, 10, Pyper Barnard, 2, Tahtiana Simpson, 2, unknown, 1
"B"
The "B" team lost to Devine, 32-7. Although we started strong, our defense slipped, and Devine was able to take over in the second half. Madison Frazee and Mia Ranly improved their defensive skills while Charlie Dean and Karlee Hamilton showed strength on attacking the basket for layups.
