Bulldogs ready for district play as tournament season ends

Still sitting at .500 (8-8) for the season, the Bandera High School varsity basketball squad is slowing down from the tournament portion of the season and preparing for district play starting next week.
The Bulldogs went 3-3 last week in the Comfort tournament posting two wins over Ingram plus a victory over San Antonio Lutheran and losses to San Antonio Randolph, Marion and tournament champion, Laredo St. Augustine.
Bandera is playing well on the defensive side of the ball but are having a few issues offensively.
“We are playing great defense right now, but we have to get better quickly on the offensive end. We have spent the majority of our practice time ironing out some issues offensively and are looking forward to getting back on the court in front of a big home crowd Tuesday night.
This is a big week as we get ready to start district play and I’m looking forward to seeing this group take a big step forward over the next few days,” coach Brady Keane said.
Over those last six games, Bandera gave up 44 ppg, not a bad number but they are scoring at a 43.5 ppg clip.
The loss to Randolph was by just a single point and the victory over Lutheran was by two, so the teams record could easily be swayed by just a few plays on either side of the ball.
Kayden Brown led the team in tournament scoring, averaging 11.0 ppg while shooting 44.82 percent (13-29) from outside the arc. Eli Salas led the team in assists with 23 and was tied for the team lead in steals with Noah Barnett with nine each.
Salvador Enriquez had 30 boards and was followed closely by Salas and Alex Dirck with 26 each.
