Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library

By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director

It’s here! One of the highlights of living in Bandera is the weekend of Cowboy Mardi Gras. Stop by the library and take your picture at our photo booth. Then get some popcorn and enter your name into our giveaway of three great new books. Happy Mardi Gras!
On a significantly less cool note, tax forms have arrived. Stop by to pick up your 1040 booklet and instructions. We have the forms in English and Spanish.
Have you got any tweens, teens or young-at-hearts who love Pokemon? Then stop by on Mondays at 4:30 p.m., in the Downstairs Meeting Room, for the weekly meet up of the official Bandera Pokemon League. The group plays Pokemon: The Card Game (TCG) and discuss their favorite anime and manga. Players develop their cognitive skills and critical thinking as they play this mixed game of strategy and chance.
Tuesdays and Thursdays are our twice-weekly Spanish classes held at 10:30 a.m., in the Texana Room. Learn for the first time or brush up on your language skills. As your Spanish skills develop, check out some of the new Spanish titles in the library collection. There are even graphic novels in Spanish with popular fairy tales so that reading and following along is easy. Check one out today.
There are a few dates to pencil in your calendar coming up. Friday, March 3, local author Jan Sikes will be here for a book signing and Q&A. Monday, March 6, is the first day of BINGOcize at 1:30 p.m. Call or stop by to register. Thursday, May 4, is Star Wars Day and the library will host a first-ever mini-con. Come dressed as your favorite Star Wars character and stay for a variety of activities and entertainment.
Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is still available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Stay up to date with library events by following us on Facebook (@Bandera County Library), Instagram, TikTok (@banderalibrary), or sign up for our monthly newsletter through our website at www.banderalibrary.org.
Happy tales, y’all.
