Lakehills Community Center to hold annual Membership Appreciation Dinner
By Ron Clarke
Lakehills Community Center Marketing Lead
The Lakehills Community Center will host its annual Membership Appreciation Dinner and welcome new Members on Thursday, March 9, with a Meet & Greet beginning at 6 p.m., followed by a free BBQ dinner for all new and existing members at 6:30 p.m.
The Lakehills Community Center has expanded and improved its facilities over the last year due to fundraising, donations and grant approvals. Born as a simple Gumbo Festival more than 41 years ago, the Lakehills Community Center has grown to providing many services to the Lakehills and Bandera County areas, including monthly food bank food distributions, social events, rental of event spaces for meetings, seminars, weddings, and other special events, as well as a monthly Senior Citizens dinner which often sees 70-100 participants.
Their signature fundraiser is well-known nationwide as the “Medina Lake Cajun Festival,” and plans are already underway for a great Festival in 2023.
“I first joined the Cajun Festival committee years ago as I was impressed by the organization of the Cajun Festival. When I was there volunteering for that, I met many others who volunteered for the Civic Center, now known as the Community Center and wanted to get involved. I have enjoyed the many activities and enjoyed meeting new people as a part of not only my volunteering but my enjoying of the various programs at our Community Center. I support and enjoy being a member,” Community Center Board Member Helen Cunningham said.
