The Bandera Natural History Museum celebrated Mardi Gras in traditional fashion, serving an authentic Louisiana dinner on the last day of Carnival season.
Guests enjoyed crawfish étouffée, pistolettes, red beans and rice with andouille sausage, jambalaya, gumbo, and bread pudding with rum sauce during a fundraising event held Tuesday, Feb. 21. The meal was prepared and served by Lagniappe Today, owned by Suzanne and Larry Jackson, both frequent benefactors of the museum.
Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, symbolizes the last day of excess before the beginning of the sacrificial season of Lent, which began Feb. 22, and will end Thursday, April 6.
