Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library

By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director

One of my all-time favorite authors and probably favorite human being is Mark Twain. Reading “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” as a child was a formative experience for me and one that caused more than a few gray hairs for my poor parents. I could not imagine however having to apply Twain’s most famous quote to my own life to say that the report of my death has been greatly exaggerated. Before anyone else has a near heart attack, please rest assured I was not murdered at the library last week.
The library is celebrating March Murder Mystery Month and has created a community-wide version of the game of Clue. As such, we are treating everyone as a suspect for this crime. Check the library’s social media on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays this month to get the clue and meet the possible murderer. Guesses can be submitted to Program Coordinator Brittany via email at [email protected]. Those who correctly guess the killer’s identity will be entered into a drawing for a gift certificate to a Bandera business of their choice.
Did you remember that Spring Break is coming up? Check out the library’s public calendar for all the fun activities for all ages at the library. The URL is https://banderalibrary.org/calendar-1 and is updated frequently.
Stop by on Monday morning at 10 a.m. for the Watercolor Class in the Downstairs Meeting room or you can pop in at 4:30 p.m. for Pokemon. Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. is our Spanish class that meets in the Texana Room. Brush up on old skills or pick it up for the first time. Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. is the meet up for the Country and Western Music Group. This group is for all levels and a love for country music is all that is required to participate. At 4 p.m. bring your knitting, crochet, embroidery or any other kind of stitching project for Sit-and-Stitch. Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. is Storytime for preschoolers. Join us for read aloud, crafts and a snack. Fair warning, we have been known to hokey pokey on occasion. At 4 p.m. on Thursday girls age 6 and up are invited to the Teen Center to learn computer coding.
Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. is Dungeons and Dragons. Think D&D isn’t for you? If you enjoy adventure, creative thinking and problem solving all while working with a team to best handle dragons and dwarves then give it a try.
Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is still available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Stay up to date with library events by following us on Facebook (@Bandera County Library), Instagram, TikTok (@banderalibrary), or sign up for our monthly newsletter through our website at www.banderalibrary.org.
Happy tales, y’all.
