Bandera Area Track & Field Report
On Wednesday, April 19, the Bandera Bulldog Track and Field teams traveled to Canyon High School to compete in their Area Track Meet. The top four finishers in each event will move on to the Regional Track Meet. All Bandera athletes who qualified for the Area track meet moved on to Regionals.
On the girls side, the Lady Bulldogs were led off by the 4x200 Relay. Despite a little struggle with a handoff the girls fought through and persevered and placed 4th running their second fastest time this year. The four girls who competed were Sophomores Gabby Barrera, Jayla Blake, Jazlyn Dickerson and Kinlee Lawlis. Alternates were Juniors Trinity Butler and Layney Bowman, and Sophomores Ally Kline and Riley Noon.
Not long after, Lawlis was back on the track in the open 200. She placed 3rd in the 200 qualifying her for her 2nd event at Regionals. This is all of the girls’ first showing at the Regional Track Meet in Kingsville.
Braden Cox started the day in the 3200 where he cruised to a 3rd place finish, qualifying for Regionals his 3rd year in a row. First time Area qualifier Hunter Garrett was next up in discus. He finished 2nd overall qualifying for Regionals for the first time. Braden Cox finished up the day in the 1600m. He finished 2nd in the event, and is moving on to regionals in both events he competed in.
The Region 4-4A Track and Field meet will be held at A&M Kingsville next Friday and Saturday, April 28 and 29.
