Keep in Beat with the Bandera Library

By Mauri Guillén Fagan
Bandera Library Director

Believe it or not, the summer is already around the corner. It is time to sign up your littles for the Summer Reading Program. The theme this year is “All Together Now” and is centered on kindness. Every Thursday, beginning June 8 to July 27, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, your kids can come for books, games, performers and more. Go onto our website to download a registration form or stop by the library to pick up a copy. The program is for kids ages 4 to 12 this year. Hope you can join in the fun.
Did you get a chance to sign up for our NetSmartz Internet Safety class? We had to reschedule the event due to unforeseen circumstances, so if you couldn’t make it on April 28, hopefully you can make it this Friday, May 12, at 4 p.m., in the Downstairs Meeting Room. This class is designed for parents and guardians who need the tools to keep their kids and teens safe online.
This Sunday is Mother’s Day. On behalf of everyone here at the Bandera Library, to all of our lovely, loving mothers, grandmothers and mother-figures, thank you for all the wonderful things you do.
Thursday, May 18, will be a busy day. At 10:30 a.m., we have our weekly Storytime with Miss Brittany. Bring your preschoolers and look for the green sneakers. Each week we have read aloud books, songs, crafts and the kiddos get a small snack. Our newest programming is on the Third Thursday of every month is also Anime Night. Teens and tweens are invited to come screen anime in our Downstairs Meeting Room from 4:30 - 6 p.m.
Save the date for the upcoming meeting of the Bandera County Gardening Club on Tuesday, May 23, at 5:30 p.m., in the Downstairs Meeting Room. This month’s topic will be saving seeds. We will also be doing a seed exchange to establish a seed library. Please bring your seeds that you would like to exchange with their names and share any tips you might have to grow them successfully. Wednesday, May 24, the Don’t Mess with Bandera Recycling Group will meet in the Texana Room, from 3 - 5 p.m.
Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is still available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Stay up to date with library events by following us on Facebook (@BanderaLibrary), Instagram, TikTok (@banderalibrary), or sign up for our monthly newsletter through our website at www.banderalibrary.org.
