The Lakehills American Legion Post #410 has announced a new Honor Guard service for Bandera County.
“This has been a long time coming. Our Memorial Honor Guard has been practicing for a year to bring this type of service to the deserving Veterans, their families, and the Bandera Community at large. They present an air of distinction to the service they provide and we at the Lakehills Legion are proud to support this new endeavor of these Veterans and our Post,” Post Commander Jim Schledorn said.
“We wanted to bring a distinctive method to celebrating events that involve Veterans in Bandera County. It has taken quite a bit of preparation, but we are glad to finally be ready to celebrate Veterans in the best of times and celebrations as well as add dignity to their final remembrance, funerals, and memorials. That we can provide this service to local churches, funeral homes, and organizations free of charge is something we are especially proud of. Additionally, our demilitarized and inert vintage M-1 rifles, provided as WWII surplus adds a vintage feel to our presentations. We can provide virtually any service to these organizations including full funeral military honors, special events kickoffs, memorials, etc. Simply give us a call to discuss how our Lakehills Honor Guard can assist you,” Post Adjutant Dennis Fedak said.
The Lakehills American Legion Memorial Color Guard has a dedicated telephone line that you can call anytime to make a request or reservation. Call 830-529-0035 to talk with an Honor Guard member directly.
