Happy September everyone. Can you feel the Fall breeze, yet? Me neither, but fingers crossed that we will be blessed by that cool-kissed wind soon. September brings forth some important dates and one of most highly anticipated events of the year – The Big Give! Save the dates for some upcoming important events:
The Big Give is an online fundraiser for the Bandera Kronkosky Public Library. It takes place from Wednesday, Sept. 20 through Thursday, Sept. 21 on the website https://www.thebiggivesa.org/organizations/bandera-kronkosky-public-library. There are various “levels” of giving you can choose from, as well as an option to give however much you want or are able to. Think of all of the wonderful and colorful books that will line the shelves, and all of the events that will be made possible, thanks to your generous donation. Every dollar counts, please give what you can.
Tuesday, Sept. 12, will be our monthly Bandera County Garden Club meeting from 10 - 11 a.m. The second Tuesday of each month is the Bandera County Garden Club meeting in the in the Texana room. The group meets to discuss a topic relevant to gardening here in the local area. Come by to chat with fellow garden-lovers and get more information on raising various veggies and flowers. It’s a wonderful opportunity to find out how others are dealing with current issues or hear inspiring success stories.
Come visit us on Wednesday, Sept. 13, from 5 - 6 p.m., in the Artist of the Month Gallery. Local artist Bill Stevens will be here to talk about the various media and materials he works with, including the murals he was commissioned for during a Bandera Beautification Project. While at the library, take a look at Bill’s wonderful pieces on display through the end of September. Light refreshments will be served.
Tuesday, Sept. 19, is National Register to Vote Day! Your voice matters, so consider registering to vote at the library. You can register from 9 a.m. when the library opens, until 5 p.m. On the same day, from 4 - 6 p.m., the Bond Informational Meeting will take place downstairs. They will answer questions about what the school bond is and also have displays demonstrating examples of the building.
Back to the 70s anyone? Macrame can be seen making a comeback for its boho and chic designs. Space is limited, so sign up at the library for our free macramé classes taught and hosted by our very own staff member. They take place on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 5 p.m.
Bandera Kronkosky Public Library is open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Curbside service is available for checkouts and business services. Free Wi-Fi is available 24/7. Stay up to date with library events by following us on social media (@BanderaLibrary), or sign up for our monthly newsletter through our website at www.banderalibrary.org.
Happy tales, y’all.
