Tony Battle announces for Bandera City Council
Dear Voters,
I have had the privilege of spending a large part of my childhood in Bandera since I was 6 years old, living and residing in the city of Bandera for the last 20 years. Although I was not born in Bandera, I would say I am as close to it as you can get. This long history of love for our community provides me with a unique perspective on the priorities for the city. I have been involved in Bandera City government in the past, spending six years serving on the Planning and Zoning Commission. During that time, we went through a re-codification exercise and the previous master planning effort for the city. I believe this experience and my last 10 months serving on the city council qualify me for this position.
Bandera has some challenges ahead, with infrastructure emerging as the most pressing. We currently have a wastewater treatment plant that is in violation based on its location in the floodplain. Procuring the required land for a new plant and commencing that project is critical. My professional background in construction and development will allow us to maintain our current momentum on that pivotal project. Maintenance and construction of roads and sidewalks are also pressing issues facing our community. As the former chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission, I partnered with TxDOT on a grant for $2M of sidewalks, which, unfortunately, was not supported by the council at the time. If elected for another term, I plan to breathe life back into that project.
As a councilman, listening to my constituents is the most important thing to me. In the last 10 months of my service, Bandera citizens have shared with me that they want Bandera to stay true to its roots as the Cowboy Capital of the World. This designation is the result of the hard work of our ancestors, and it is our responsibility to maintain and celebrate our history every chance we get. The cowboy lifestyle drew me to Bandera as a young boy from across the globe and to hang my hat here with my wife from Bandera and our two children. As a city councilman, you have my commitment to maintain this priority. My constituents also want conservative leadership with integrity, a dependable infrastructure, and a safe community to raise their families. I would be honored to have your endorsement for another term to meet these essential requests.
Respectfully,
Tony Battle
