The Bandera varsity volleyball team fell in a pair of hard-fought matches against Boerne and Wimberley, falling to 1-7 in District 27-4A play and 21-18 on the season.
The Lady Bulldogs fell to Boerne in four sets on Friday Oct. 6, 13-25, 25-23, 22-25, 22-25. Jayla Blake had 12 kills, Ally Kline had 18 assists and 12 digs and Kinlee Lawlis had eight kills and 12 digs to lead the way statistically for Bandera.
At the sub-varsity level, the freshmen Lady Bulldogs fell to 1-18 on the season after a 10-25, 21-25 loss while the JV Lady Bulldogs moved to 6-14 for the year after a 10-25, 12-25 loss.
“We played hard but had too many errors to give ourselves a chance,” Bandera Head Coach Sananda Molina said. “We had a great play one second and then would commit an unforced error the next. Emotions of the moment can only take us so far. When emotions run out, execution is the key to success.”
The Lady Bulldogs bounced back with a road match against Wimberley Tuesday night but struggled to get into a rhythm as the Lady Texans took the victory in straight sets 7-25, 17-25, 20-25. Kinlee Lawlis (15 digs, six kills), Jayla Blake (five kills), Ally Kline (seven assists, six digs), Xara Martinez (five assists) and Ashlyn Mott (six digs, two aces) were among the leaders for Bandera.
The freshmen Lady Bulldogs fell to Wimberley 10-25, 21-25 while the JV Lady Bulldogs lost 10-25, 12-25.
“Tuesday night’s loss was not a reflection of who we are, but a glimpse into who we can become,” Molina said. “Every defeat carries the seeds of future victory. This will be the turning point that fuels our determination, strengthens our unity, and propels us toward greatness. We rise from the ashes, learn from the setbacks, and emerge stronger. This is just one chapter, and the best is yet to come.”
Bandera has four games remaining on the schedule, including a home game this Friday night against Navarro. The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Canyon Lake Tuesday night, and then finish up the regular season with a pair of home games against Fredericksburg and Davenport.
