Bandera ISD rated ‘Superior’ by state financial integrity system
The Bandera Independent School District announced its 19th consecutive "Superior Achievement" rating in the Texas Education Agency Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas for the fiscal year 2022-23, with an overall score of 100.
"Receiving the Superior Achievement rating for the 19th year in a row is a testament to the dedication and hard work of the Bandera ISD team. We are proud of our commitment to ensuring due diligence in managing our financial resources. This accomplishment reflects the values and principles we hold dear, ensuring that the resources entrusted to us are utilized wisely and effectively to benefit our students and community,” BISD Superintendent Gary Bitzkie said.
One of the key individuals instrumental in maintaining the district's financial health is Bandera ISD's Chief Financial Officer Michael Neuman, with the collective efforts of Tiffany Pierce, Leslie Skelly, Courtney Bower, Sylvia Garza, and Deneise Barta.
The district extended commendation to the BISD Board of Trustees “for setting an exceptional example of what it means to be fiscally responsible. Their leadership, along with the diligent work of the district's financial team, has ensured that BISD continues to excel in the realm of fiscal accountability.”
The Superior Achievement rating is based on a comprehensive evaluation of the district's financial data, including administrative cost expenditures, the accuracy of financial information submitted to TEA, and the identification of any financial vulnerabilities or material weaknesses in internal controls by an external auditor.
