Local homeschooled dance troupe entertains Silver Sage seniors

Recently, members of a Bandera County homeschooling student body joined together to entertain Silver Sage seniors enjoying lunch at the Silver Sage dining room.
Members of Miss Kelly’s Dance Class from MKC Dance Studio, who are all members of Bandera County home-schooling programs, take dance as an extra-curricular activity. Having just come from a performance at Bandera High School, the Silver Sage daily senior luncheon was the next stop for this dance troupe on their local holiday tour.
The dancers performed brilliantly for the seniors at the Silver Sage – Hill Country Resource Center dining room during their regularly scheduled lunch. They performed Christmas dances to Christmas favorites in holiday costumes. Synchronicity seems to be the word of the day for the holiday-themed dance. MKC Studio brought dancers from the smallest to “tweens” into the performance, but even some of the seniors got involved with the body-swaying, toe-tapping energetic dance routine performed by six students of the studio.
To cap off the performance, two dancers dressed as “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” danced in tandem to the much-loved Holiday classic song and entertained the group with their reindeer dance while dressed in Rudolph Reindeer costumes complete with blinking red noses.
Both before and after the dance routine, the students laughed and engaged with the senior citizens in the audience. The experience gave the students as well as the senior a chance to interact with each other and it was a welcome break from the dreary weather outside as the room was filled with smiles and laughter.
Silver Sage – Hill Country Resource Center provides more than 125,000 meals through the “Meals on Wheels” program and in-house annually to seniors. The “sit-down” meals are served daily at the Silver Sage dining room at 11:30 a.m. Donations are accepted. To volunteer, or for more information about the Silver Sage – Hill Country Resource Center, visit their website at www.silversage.org.
Miss Kelly’s Dance Class at MKC Dance Studio is provided for students of any age and is based in Pipe Creek. You can find them on both Facebook and Instagram, or you can contact them directly at 830-328-0008.
