Medina Lady Cats grab district win

By Lindsey Kunz
MISD Superintendent/Athletic Director

Medina Lady Cats earned their first district win of the 2023-24 season on Friday, Dec. 15, in Utopia. A close game throughout the contest, the Lady Cats pulled away in the fourth quarter to finish victorious by a score of 41-31. The win moves the Lady Cats to 1-1 in district play after dropping the district opening to D’Hanis on Tuesday, Dec. 12.
Medina Bobcat basketball had a winning week defeating the visiting Bulldogs from LaPryor Friday night. Strong play on both offense and defense allowed the Bobcats to take the lead from the start and never look back. When the final buzzer sounded, Medina had secured a 71-28 victory.
Medina Junior High basketball also had a great week with the Girls and Boys “A” teams defeating the Leakey Eagles. Both games were close from start to finish with the girls claiming the victory by 1 point and the boys by 2 points – both in the final seconds of the games. The Lady Cat “B” team made a comeback to complete their game in a tie at 6 points each.
High school basketball will take a break for the holidays and then be back in action on Dec. 28 and 29, at the Menard Holiday Basketball Tournament.
