A Bandera man was sentenced to 50 years in prison on two counts of murder after pleading guilty today.
Michael Andrew Novak, 28 at the time of his arrest last July, was booked and held at the Bandera County Jail on a $1 million bond after authorities discovered the bodies of Novak’s mother Crystal Holder, and her partner Rick Biering, in their home on Wharton’s Dock Road.
Bandera County Chief Deputy Matt King said both victims’ bodies were found lying in the master bedroom, decomposing with massive trauma to their heads. Novak, who reportedly suffers from depression and emotional issues, was found sitting in another room in the house.
Novak entered his guilty plea in a Kerrville courtroom before 198th Judicial District Judge M. Patrick Maguire.
