Proud and patriotic in Bandera County

This Saturday, July 6, put on your red, white and blue and step out for Bandera’s Independence Day Parade. Rolling down Main Street, the parade begins at 11 a.m.

Other patriotic events this week include:
Tuesday, July 2 and Wednesday, July 3
The Boys & Girls Club of Bandera County, in cooperation with the American Legion Post 410 Honor Guard, will present Flag Appreciation. Demonstrations will include the history of the National Anthem, and proper respect, folding, retirement and disposal of the U.S. flag.
The events will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, at the Hill Country Elementary cafeteria, and Wednesday, July 3, at the Alkek Elementary cafeteria.
Thursday, July 4
~ The 28th annual Pet Parade is set for Thursday, July 4, at the Bandera City Park. Pets of all sizes, breeds and species are invited to attend and dress up in creative costume. From horses to fish, anything that can be lead, riden or carried is welcome.
Registration begins at 9 a.m., judging is at 9:30 a.m. and the parade starts at 10 a.m. For more information, call 210-705-4794, or email [email protected].
~ The American Legion Post 410, in Lakehills, will host a July 4 parade. Beginning at 11 a.m., floats will cruise down PR 37 in Lakehills.
Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, and also for the most creative displays. Line up and registration will be in front of St. Victor’s, from 9 - 10:30 a.m. Reviewing the parade entries start at 10 am. Trophies will be presented from 10:30 - 10:45 a.m. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. Bring water, it will be hot. Bathroom breaks at the firehouse. Everyone is welcome to participate!
A BBQ lunch will be served at noon, at the American Legion, featuring live music by the Wade Lowery Band.

~ Dance under the stars to the music of The Rick Rice Band and The Tailgaters, on Thursday, July 4, at 8 p.m., at the 11th Street Cowboy Bar.
Friday, July 5
~ On Friday, July 5, the Ridin’ on Faith Rodeo will take place at Mansfield Park, from 6-10 p.m.
~ Gary P. Nunn will be on stage Friday night, at 10 p.m., at the 11th Street Cowboy Bar.
