The Bandera Prophet

The Summer Reading Program for the kiddos, “Adventure Begins at Lakehills Library,” continues through July. There will two showings every Wednesday, one at 10:30 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. On July 3, the youngsters will learn Cactus Painting; on July 10, the library will welcome Ranger Medellin from Texas Parks and Wildlife; July 17 will see the kids make yarn wrapped letters; on July 24, the children will get a visit from Happy Tails; and on July 31, famous roper Kevin Fitzpatrick will lead the kiddos in the Cowboy Party.
The library will be closed on July 4, to celebrate our Independence Day.
The August Book Sale will be Saturday, Aug. 3, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be no book sale in July.
The library announces the good news that they now have automatic doors on the entrance and the restroom. This will greatly facilitate our patrons who struggle with canes, walkers and wheelchairs.
Wally’s Watersports will present a special program, “Learn About Water Sports,” with Crandall’s Ski & Wakeboard School, on Saturday, July 20, at 10:30 a.m. They will include information on Medina Lake, conservation & types of watersports. The lake will not be dry forever so this will be handy for all to know.
The BYOB (Bring Your Own Book) Book Club, will meet Tuesday, July 9, 1 - 2 p.m. Books discussed at the June meeting included: “Behold A Pale Horse,” by William Cooper; “The Complete Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Dog,” by Don Abney; and “As A Man Thinketh.” All are welcome to discuss all things bookish.
The Evening Book Club will meet Tuesday, July 23, at 5:30 p.m. They will discuss “Just A Regular Boy” by Catherine Ryan Hyde.
The Board will meet on Wednesday, July 10, at 4:30 p.m. The public is welcome.
The Benefits Enrollment Center will be available Wednesday, July 10, 10 a.m. to noon. They provide application assistance for those over 65 or disabled.
The Garden Club will meet on Saturday, July 27, at 11 a.m.
The library is located at 7200 FM 1283. The phone is 830-510-2777.
