Winding construction to continue through February 2025

The Bandera Prophet
Motorists need to pack their patience as they continue to navigate winding construction along Hwy. 16. In addition to the maze of cones from Pipe Creek to Bandera, new culverts are being installed at the intersection of Hwy. 16 and Old San Antonio Hwy. E., causing confusing lane changes and closures.
At least through the end of the week, only the right turn lane from Old San Antonio Hwy. E. onto Hwy. 16 N. is open - the left turn lane is blocked. From Bandera, there is no access to Old San Antonio Hwy. E.; heading north on Hwy. 16, the right turn only lane is open to Old San Antonio Hwy. E. The barricades at Old San Antonio Hwy. W. by Bandera Creek have been removed, allowing alternate access.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the overall project includes profiling edgeline and centerline markings on Hwy. 16 from Robindale West Road to FM 1283; from Old San Antonio Hwy. to Robindale East, the road will be expanded from two to four lanes with a center turn lane, curbs, sidewalks and drainage improvements.
The estimated completion date for the $12.2-plus million project is February 2025, according to TxDOT.
