Bandera woman charged with abandoning autistic child
A Bandera woman remains in custody in the Bexar County Jail on charges of felony child endangerment and abandonment.
According to reports, the 38-year-old woman drove her special-needs daughter to San Antonio, and abandoned her in an enclosed dumpster area off Loop 1604 and Potranco Road. The 15-year-old child was found by nearby workers, and hospitalized several days for dehydration. Because she was non-verbal and could not provide authorities her identity, she was classified as a Jane Doe.
The girl’s grandmother reportedly triggered a state-wide AMBER Alert, after her daughter returned home without the child.
