Medina Lady Cats earn championship

Medina Lady Cat volleyball brought home the championship plaque on Saturday, Aug. 24, from the Sabinal Varsity Tournament with a 25-4, 25-14 defeat of Pearsall.
The Lady Cats began the tournament on Thursday, Aug. 22, with pool play. Set in Pool 2 with Memorial, Sabinal and Center Point, the Lady Cats completed the day with a perfect 3 and 0 record to earn the number one seed headed to Saturday’s bracket.
On Saturday, the Lady Cats won a nail-biting contest with Utopia by scores of 27-25, 25-12 to advance to the championship match versus Pearsall.
Seniors Brooke Mancha and Hallie Kunz were selected to the All-Tournament team.  
Lady Cat JV volleyball concluded the tournament with a win over Knippa by scores of 15-25, 25-17, 15-4. Sahira Porlouis earned the All-Tournament medal.
In other volleyball action, the Junior High Lady Cats began their season with a thrilling 16-14 set 3 score and match win over the visiting Lady Eagles from Leakey.  
Medina Varsity Lady Cats are back in action on Friday and Saturday as they host the Annual Lady Cat Volleyball Tournament.
