The deadline to file for a place on the Nov. 5 election ballot was Aug 19, and several local seats are contested.

~ At the Bandera County River Authority and Groundwater District, five directors’ seats are available.
Candidates for the open seats are: Pct. 1 (two seats): Incumbent Ernest DeWinne, Incumbent John Benedict, and Patrick McLean; Pct. 2: Incumbent Don Sloan (unopposed); Pct. 3: Incumbent Melissa Checkovage (unopposed); and Pct. 4: Incumbent Jada Jo Smith (unopposed).

~ At the county level, names on the ballot will include Incumbent Janna Lindig for county attorney; Josh Teitge for sheriff; Troy Konvicka for Pct. 1 commissioner; Incumbent Jack Moseley for Pct. 3 commissioner; Incumbents Phillip Tobin, Greg Spengler, Don Walters and Rod Chalmers for constables Pcts. 1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively; and Andrea Jankoski for tax assessor-collector. Rebekah Dolphus, who won the primary election, has withdrawn her candidacy.

~ At Bandera ISD, two candidates have filed for Place 3: Incumbent Tiffany Jones and Robert Sanderson; Place 4, held by Bo Mansfield, is unopposed. The drawing for place on the ballot will be today, Aug. 26, at 2 p.m., at the district office (815 Pecan Street).

~ At Medina ISD, Place 2, held by David Derry; Place 3, held by Brad Zirkel; Place 6, held by Andy Lautzenheiser; and Place 7, held by Thad Emmons, are open. All incumbents have filed with no opponents, so there will be no election.
