Lakehills Library Leanings

The Bandera Prophet

The September Book Sale will take place on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the library meeting room. The October Book Sale will be Oct. 5, also from 10 to 2.
The Pre-School Story Time will resume on Wednesdays, beginning Sept. 4, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
The library is sponsoring “Funding by the Foot,” a community walking track fundraiser, to provide a long-lasting walking surface for our community. Contact the library for more information.
The BYOB (Bring Your Own Book) Book Club, will meet Tuesday, Sept. 10, 1 - 2 p.m. The book recommended for August was “American Daughter” by Stephanie Thornton Plymale. All are welcome to discuss books read.
The Evening Book Club will meet Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 5:30 p.m. They will discuss “Night Music” by Jo Jo Moyes.
The Board will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 4:30 p.m. The public is welcome.
The Benefits Enrollment Center will be available Wednesday, Sept. 11, 10 a.m. to noon. Sponsored by Silver Sage and the National Council on Aging, they provide application assistance for those over 65 or disabled.
Food Bank application assistance will be offered on Friday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Garden Club will host a Plant Sale on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The library also hosts an Art in the Library Program and they actively seek artists of all genres to display their works. Each artist will exhibit for one month. Although sales are not guaranteed, many sales have resulted and the artist gains name recognition. If anyone is interested in displaying their work, contact Deb Hicks at [email protected].
The library hosts other events and many services, such as faxing, copying, laminating, notary, scanning, free Wifi, DVDs, and interlibrary loans. They also offer books in all forms, such as ebooks, audio books, and large print books. They offer Genealogy, with access to Ancestry.com.

Their new hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
