The Bandera girls cross country team placed second overall behind Hondo at the Medina Valley meet on Saturday, as three Bulldogs placed in the top 10 to lead the way.
Kierstin Brown posted a 13:26 and finished 8th while freshman Aubrie Moore and junior Taytum Moeller placed 9th and 10th, respectively, with a time of 13:37. Merry Robinson was 13th with a time of 13:48, and rounding out the top 5 with a medal for Bandera was Milesia Casas in 15th (13:55).
Riley LaLanne (13:58) finished 17th, Kalee Fried (13:59) was 18th, Mia Ranly (13:59) was 19th, Xoi Cook (14:25) was 23rd and Lori King (14:42) was 26th.
At the JV level, the Bulldogs palced third behind a 13th place finish from Riley Noon. Briley Clark and Addison Ashcraft finished 16th and 17th, and Lauren Meier (51st) and Emma Rynarzewski (57th) rounded out the top five runners for Bandera. Other JV competitors included Isabella Chapa, Julia Freeman, Jada Bergfeld, Mariska Collaza, Kylie Minton, Rosa Espino and Yamne De La Rosa.
“I was very pleased with how the girls competed this past week on a tough course,” Head Coach Brooke Ashcraft said. “Our grouping was very tight. Every girl improved on the same course from their time last year.”
The Bulldogs will be back in action Saturday morning at the Steve Golemon Memorial meet in Bandera.
“In the next few weeks, it will get more and more competitive with girls fighting for the top seven spots,” Ashcraft said. “This next week we are hosting our home meet, and we are excited about competing back in Bandera!”
