Arthur Nagel Community Clinic announces Ron Clarke as Honorary Veteran of Cork & Fork 2024
The Arthur Nagel Community Clinic has selected Ron Clarke as Honorary Veteran for its popular fundraising event, Cork & Fork, to be held at The Farm Country Club on Saturday, Nov. 9. This recognition honors Clarke’s distinguished military service and his continued dedication to the Bandera community.
Clarke served as an active-duty USAF Law Enforcement Specialist at Randolph AFB, from 1981-1986, where he worked as a base patrolman and desk sergeant. He later transferred to Incirlik AB, where he served as a joint patrolman with the Turkish Police and as a desk sergeant before moving to Lackland AFB. At Lackland, Clarke took on the role of Law Enforcement Instructor, training personnel from the Air Force, Marines, Navy, and Coast Guard. He completed his active-duty service at Lackland and continued his military career in the Reserves, serving until 1996. During his Reserve duty, he participated in Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada, and Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1991.
“We are privileged to have Ron Clarke as Honorary Veteran of Cork & Fork during our salute to all American men and women of service to our nation,” Nagel Clinic Executive Director Chuck Lutke said. “Throughout his military career, Ron was twice decorated for his exemplary service. In 1986, he saved a life while on patrol using CPR, and in 1988, his quick thinking and coordination led to the apprehension of a gunman targeting a U.S. military housing area in Europe. Ron’s dedication to his country and his community are exceptional.”
Beyond his military service, Clarke has remained a steadfast supporter of the Bandera community. He currently serves as the editor of BanderaNewzJunky.Com, a local news service that provides free promotion for Bandera area non-profits and reaches approximately 17,000 social media users daily. He also contributes as Marketing and Website Chairman for the Lakehills Community Center and the annual Medina Lake Cajun Festival. Additionally, Clarke leads the Lakehills American Legion Honor Guard, which provides dignified military appearances at local events and full military honors for Bandera area veterans.
Last year, Clarke was recognized as Community Champion by the Bandera Bulletin, and he is a regular contributor and team member of the Bandera Prophet, further underscoring his commitment to serving others. His personal motto, “If each of us gave one hour of volunteer service each month, what could we do for our neighbor!” exemplifies his dedication to community service.
