Bandera volleyball picks up two wins through Homecoming Week

The Bandera volleyball team had a big bounce back week, recording two wins during homecoming week and starting to build some momentum prior to the start of district play.
The Bulldogs opened the week with a dominant straight set win over St. Anthony’s before taking down Blanco in a four-set thriller.
“We were proud of the girls staying focused during homecoming week and coming away with two wins,” Head Coach Tisha Pettibon said. “We had a huge comeback in the fourth set down 17-24 to play mistake free and aggressive volleyball for seven points. That is extremely rare and showed a lot of character for our girls.”
Bandera defeated St. Anthony’s 25-14, 25-20, 25-15 on Tuesday as Jayla Blake and Kinlee Lawlis dominated offensively while combining for 22 kills. Ally Kline facilitated 29 assists, while Taytum Moeller led the way with 10 digs. Other contributors included Jessi Battle (3 aces, 1 kill, 0.5 blocks, 7 digs), Taylor Hamilton (4 kills, 1 ace, 1 assist, 1 dig), Kyra Blake (4 kills, 2 digs), Sydney Moore (4 kills) and Pyper Barnard (4 kills).
On Friday, Bandera took down Blanco 25-20, 17-25, 25-23, 28-26. Lawlis (21 kills, 7 digs, 2 aces, 1 block, 1 assist), Jayla Blake (16 kills, 13 digs, 4 aces, 1 block), Kline (39 assists, 4 digs, 2 aces, 1 kill), Moore (9 kills) and Moeller (11 digs, 3 assists) led the way in the exciting win for the Bulldogs.
Bandera is off from competition Tuesday, and will be back in action Friday on the road against San Antonio Marshall. The Bulldogs then host Leakey on Sept. 24, before opening district play on the road against state-ranked No. 16 Davenport on Friday, Sept. 27.
“We are excited to travel to Marshall and get a win on the road before starting district next Friday,” Pettibon said.
