Winning Day for Medina Athletics

By Lindsey Kunz
Medina ISD Superintendent/Athletic Director

Friday, Sept. 20, was a winning day for Medina High School Athletics.  The Lady Cats and Bobcats earned demanding wins over LaPryor and Runge to conclude the day with two victories.
The night began with volleyball action as the Lady Cats hosted the Lady Bulldogs from LaPryor. Medina started strong and never looked back taking the match 3 sets to 0 by scores of 25-6, 25-13, 25-21.
Next up was football with the Bobcats hosting Runge. Runge took an early lead but the Bobcats responded scoring touchdown after touchdown in the first half of play. When the halftime buzzer sounded, the Bobcats needed just two points to complete the game by 6-man mercy rule. A kickoff return for a Bobcat touchdown in the first play after half earned the points for Medina and the game was called by the score of 73-24.
The Bobcats will host Veribest on Friday, Sept. 27, while the Lady Cats are preparing for district play beginning on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
