Bandera Middle School volleyball takes the win in redemption match against Carrizo Springs

By Coach Amanda F. Nelson-Green

Bandera Middle School

8th Grade A Team
8th Grade A Team played against Carrizo Springs last night in what was an exciting night of volleyball. The team fought hard in the first set, with both teams showing great rally throughout. After an 8 point lead and strong 3 touches back and forth we began to get tired. The Lady Bulldogs fell 20-25.
In the second set the girls came back with a vengeance and fought point vs point before landing just short of the W, 24-26. For the next week and half we will continue to grow and work on stamina. When we get tired we have to be able to push through and not step back from the ball. The girls look forward to shaking the loss off and bringing home a win when we travel to Uvalde, on Oct. 21.
Stats recorded: Aces: Elle Vander Zee 3, Blu Rollo 4, Brooke Montelongo 5, Hadley Rogers 1, Rehnahta Gomez 5, Emma McClintock 1 and Gracen Spruell 5. 8th Grade B Team
The 8th grade B volleyball team defeated Carrizo Springs in 3 sets: 25 to 11, 21 to 25, and 15 to 8. The Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a big lead in the first set behind strong serving from Bentley O'Donnal and Makayla Clay. Bandera struggled from the serving line in the second set, but found their rhythm again in the third.
The Lady Dogs also showed significant improvement in their offensive attacks, making on-target passes, high sets, and hard-hitting kills. This win gives the 8th grade B team an overall record of 5 wins and 1 loss.

7th Grade A Team
Last night the 7th Grade A Team was out for our redemption match after losing on the road for game 1. These girls were locked in from the start of practice in the early a.m. We knew that they would have strong servers and we prepared by working on our passes and getting the right placement on our platform.
Our back row played their best game yet! Brenna Bryd led the team with 15 digs, Harper Hicks 11, Harper Hartfield 9, Colbie LaLanne 8, Natalie Hauer 5, Josey Vollmer 5, Hailee Feller 4, Sydney Bowman 4, Hannah Lehman 4, Kaycee Putney 3, Karina Young 3, Emily Short 2. From behind the line our girls were fearless. We had multiple girls serve multiple times in a row, which was our goal for the game.
Leading the team with aces was Colbie LaLanne with 8 aces, Brenna Bryd 5, Harper Hartsfield 3, Kaycee Putney 3, Harper Hicks 2, Hailee Feller and Emily Short with 1. I am so proud of how hard our girls worked together as a team. We are moving well as a team and everyone is playing their role! #FightForward

7th Grade B Team
Last night the 7th Grade B team secured a second victory over Carrizo Springs in 2 sets. The team came into the game with confidence and cohesion. Mika Gray and Kiley May had strong serving in both sets. With accurate placed serves, they secured multiple points for the team giving us an early lead. Our goal was to improve our ball control this game, and the team did well with multiple 3 hit plays. With back to back wins against Carrizo Springs, the team looks forward to continuing the momentum to finish out the season.
