National Alliance on Mental Illness-Kerrville meeting October 17

Legislative Priorities for Mental Health is the topic of the monthly meeting for the Kerrville affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness on Thursday, Oct. 17.
Two staff members of NAMI Texas, Lyssette Galvan and Christine Busse, will present information on key issues and policy recommendations for the 89th Legislature beginning in January 2025. NAMI Kerrville meets at 6 p.m., at the Dietert Center, located at 451 Guadalupe Street, in Kerrville, in the Take Five Room. Meetings are open to the public and there is no charge to attend.
Galvan serves as the Public Policy Director at NAMI Texas and has a Master of Social Work from the University of Houston. Busse works as the Peer Policy Fellow with NAMI Texas and received her Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Texas-San Antonio. Working to strengthen the mental health system in Texas is the goal of NAMI Texas, as members advocate for improving the quality of life for individuals living with mental illness.
NAMI-Kerrville is an affiliate of both NAMI Texas and NAMI U.S. The local group meets monthly on the third Thursday of the month and hosts a program or a speaker.
