Bobcats keep playoff hopes alive

By Lindsey Kunz
Medina ISD Superintendent/Athletic Director

The Medina Bobcats took a stand on Friday, Nov. 1, against district rival Leakey. Each team needed the win to have a chance of advancing to the state football playoffs.
The Bobcats jumped on the scoreboard first with an early touchdown but the first half of play became a back and forth battle for the lead. Fortunately for the Bobcats, the second half was a different story with Medina scoring touchdown after touchdown to win by mercy rule by a score of 82-32 in the fourth quarter. Medina is open for week 11 and will be cheering for a Menard victory over Eden on Friday, Nov. 8, to secure their playoff spot as the District Runner-Up Champions.
The Lady Cats secured their own District Runner-Up Championship on Tuesday, Oct. 29, with a three set victory over the Lady Crushers from Knippa. The win advanced the Lady Cats to 6-2 in district play and 28-5 overall. On Friday, Nov. 1, the Lady Cats earned another victory in a practice match versus 3A Great Hearts Northern Oaks by the scores of 25-10, 25-12, 25-11.
The Lady Cats will play for the Bi-District Championship on Monday, Nov. 4, in Tilden, at 5 p.m., against the Redfish from Austwell-Tivoli.
