Mark your calendars for Veterans Day events

A Veterans Appreciation Breakfast will be held Nov. 8, from 7 - 8:30 a.m., in the Silver Sage Dining Room. Set your alarm by “Reveille” and enjoy great food and fellowship with fellow military and veterans.
~ On Saturday, Nov. 9, the 22nd annual Bandera Honors Veterans celebration will begin at the Bandera County Courthouse with family and military displays at 9:30 a.m., followed by tributes to local veterans and their families. This program will feature music by local musicians and the SA Pipes and Drums.
All veterans are invited to join Guest Speaker MSgt Roy Boudreaux, USAF, Retired, on the special VIP float for the parade, which begins at noon. Veterans and their spouses can enjoy a barbeque lunch on the courthouse lawn. Everyone is invited to attend and line the parade route to express appreciation. Contact Gary to enter displays or the parade at 717-679-4434 or [email protected].
Also on Nov. 9, the Kerrville Veterans Administration Volunteer Services will host a Car Show and Parade to raise funds for hospitalized veterans. Registration is from 8 - 11 a.m., followed by judging, the parade, and ending with awards at 3 p.m. Contact Voluntary Services to register at 830-792-2580 or [email protected].
~ On Monday, Nov. 11, Alkek Elementary School students, parents, and staff will line their “street” to honor local veterans, at 8:30 a.m. Veterans should enter the “Veterans Day Car Parade” via the BISD Transportation entrance on Hwy. 173 South and follow the signs. They are invited to park and join the flag ceremony led by the Student Council, followed by a presentation that includes a musical program by the Alkek Choir, brief remarks by U.S. Army Veteran and Sheriff-Elect Josh Teitge, and ends appropriately with the National Anthem sung by teacher and U.S. Army Veteran Shikisha Coloney.
Everyone is invited to enjoy all of these events to acknowledge the importance and the debt owed to our veterans, their survivors, and their families for their service and sacrifice.
