To honor National Diabetes Month during November, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension is offering free access to its popular online course, Cooking Well with Diabetes, on the AgriLife Learn platform. This course, specifically designed for individuals managing diabetes and those who prepare meals for them, aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to prepare nutritious and balanced meals.
In the four-lesson Cooking Well with Diabetes series, participants will learn essential skills to plan and prepare balanced meals, from identifying carbohydrate-rich foods and managing portions to reading nutrition labels. The course also provides meal planning tips using the Plate Method and includes exclusive recipes from the Dinner Tonight program, helping participants make healthier, diabetes-friendly choices.
"Offering this course at no cost during National Diabetes Month is part of our commitment to community health and education," Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Extension Program Specialist David Leal said. "We understand that navigating a diabetes diagnosis can be overwhelming. Our goal is to provide practical, research-backed tools that make managing diabetes easier and more enjoyable.”
