Texas Rangers release name of man fatally wounded in officer-related shooting

The Texas Department of Public Safety - Texas Rangers Division has released the name of the 68-year-old man who was fatally wounded Nov. 1 in an officer-related shooting.
“At this time, we can confirm the deceased to be identified as Sterling Mark Brantley,” stated a press release from the Texas Rangers public information office. “To protect the integrity of this investigation, no further details will be released at this time.”
In a press release, Bandera County Public Information Officer Laurie Blanchard said a call went through the Bandera County dispatch 911 call center at approximately 10:53 a.m. last Friday for the shooting. The call originally came in as a welfare check for Brantley.
“The officer involved is on administrative leave until the Texas Rangers complete their initial investigation,” Bandera County Chief Deputy Matt King said.
