A house fire claimed the life of an elderly Bandera man Saturday morning. According to Bandera County Fire Marshal Jason Rutherford, the fire was reported at 404 Lakeshore Drive N., at around 8:50 a.m.
Rutherford said when fire fighters arrived, the home and other structures on the property were fully engulfed. The victim, whose age and identity are not being released, was trapped inside the house. His sister, who owned and also lived in the house, was not home at the time, and a person who lived in a neighboring RV escaped without any reported injuries.
Rutherford said everything on the property was completely destroyed. The cause of the fire is under investigation, though Rutherford said no foul play is suspected. The Red Cross and Silver Sage have assisted the survivors.
Responding volunteer fire departments included Lakeshore VFD, Bandera Fire and Rescue, Castle Lake VFD, Medina VFD and Pipe Creek VFD.
