The 13th annual Free Community Thanksgiving Dinner was held on Thanksgiving Day, in the Lakehills Community Center, and it was a huge success, serving 391 meals, breaking all previous records.
As always, there was live music in the background, playing gospel and Christmas songs. Bill Beedle led two different groups: Mary Alice Henricks and Anna Beedle formed a small group with Bill Beedle. In the second round: The Groot family sang, while Jack Robertson played base. Later, Bill Beedle led some of his students in playing songs.
The meal was traditional for the holiday: Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, cranberry, sweet potatoes, ambrosia, green bean casserole and more desserts than you could imagine.
The event was sponsored by Hill Country Samaritans, who also sponsors the Walk Through Bethlehem this month. The Samaritans are a 501(c)3 non-profit so all donations are tax deductible and they always need volunteers. They can be reached at 956-521-7694 or [email protected].
