Bandera Middle School basketball falls to Devine

8th Grade A Team
The Lady Bulldog 8th grade A basketball team lost to Devine 20 to 41. The Lady Dogs put up a good fight in the first half, only trailing by 3. Gracen Spruel and Blu Rollo each scored 4 points and Rehnahta Gomez contributed 6 of her own. Brooke Montelongo led the Bulldogs defensively with 3 rebounds and 5 steals.
8th Grade B Team
The Lady Bulldog 8th grade B basketball team lost to Devine 12 to 33. The Bulldogs started off slow with an 8 point deficit at the end of the first quarter, but turned up the defense and held Devine to just 2 points in the second quarter. Jazmine Rhodes had a good overall game with 6 points, 2 blocked shots and 6 steals. This brings the B team's record to 2 wins and 2 losses for the season.
7th Grade A Team
The 7th grade A team lost to Devine 37-16 making their record 2-2 in the first round of district. Devine was a great competitive test for our Lady Dogs, the results weren't in our favor but we kept the energy up and fought until the end. Stat Leaders: Vanessa Gonzales 4 points, 6 steals and 2 rebounds. Brenna Bryd 4 points and 3 rebounds. Olivia Lane 4 points and 1 steal. Harper Hicks 2 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist and 1 steal. Harper Hartsfield 2 rebounds and 1 steal. Colbie Lalanne 2 points and 1 steal. Karina Young 2 steals. June Flowers 3 steals and 2 rebounds. It's back to work for the Lady Bulldogs and their main focus will be defending their house against Pearsall when they return from break.
7th Grade B Team
The 7th grade B team went down to a solid Devine B team losing 23-6, making their record 1-3 in the first round of district. Stat leaders: Michelle Melton 1 point, 6 Blocks, 1 steal and 3 rebounds. Emma Spofford 3 points, 3 steals and 1 rebound. Mika Gray 2 points, 3 steals and 4 rebounds. Olivia Rynarzewski 3 steals. Emily Short 3 rebounds and 1 steal. Avery Dehart 2 rebounds and 1 steal. Ashlynn Farjardo 1 rebound. Aspen Collazo 1 rebound and 1 steal. Natalie Hauer and Sally King both recording 1 steal. The Lady Dogs look forward to getting after it the second round of district after we return from the Holidays.
