Countywide burn ban in effect

Bandera County commissioners approved a countywide burn ban, effective immediately.
Commissioners lifted the ban Nov. 8, after several days of rain fell, lowering the Keetch Byram Drought Index below the fire hazard trigger of 575. Today, the KBDI Index for Bandera County ranges from 377 to 653.
As of yesterday, Jan. 8, the Texas A&M University Fire Danger Map rates Bandera County in the moderate range.
