Vicki and Bill George celebrate 60th anniversary

William (Bill) and Vicki George celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in a private celebration with family. The former Vicki Rutherford and her husband married on Jan. 8, 1965, in Waco, Texas, where they were attending Baylor University.
While Bill is a native Texan, Vicki considers herself a naturalized Texan. They lived and worked in and near Austin, where she grew up riding and showing horses. Bill worked in telecommunications and, when he was transferred to San Antonio in 1977, they moved to Seguin. There, they served as 4-H leaders and raised dairy and meat goats, and poultry.
In 1987, they retired from ranching and moved to Pipe Creek, where they have been active in 4-H, their church, and various charities. Bill retired from AT&T with 30 years of service in 1996; he continued part time until 2015, which enabled them to travel internationally. Vicki currently writes for the local media.
The couple has two children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
