Start your seeds now
“Start Your Seeds Now” is the topic of the January presentation of the Lakehills Area Library Garden Club. Gwen Lingenfelter, owner of Gwen’s Garden Goodies, will begin the presentation at 11 a.m.
Starting from scratch on caliche and limestone on her ranch near Bandera, Gwen and her family learned about good soil, controlling pests, composting and mulching, sowing seeds, harvesting, and so much more. Today, she has 17 raised beds for fruits and veggies, plus various planting areas for herbs.
She preserves and sells the resulting bounty in the area, notably at the Pipe Creek Market Days, as well as the new Lakehills Artisan Village & Produce.
This month, Gwen shares her wealth of knowledge with the Lakehills Library Garden Club on Saturday, Jan. 18, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at the Lakehills Library, 7200 FM 1283. This is free and open to the public. She’ll walk her audience through the steps to start your seeds indoors for transplanting success.
