Bandera Middle School 7th grade basketball defeats Carrizo Springs

8th Grade A Team
In the 2nd round of district play, the Bandera Bulldogs 8th Grade "A" Team faced off against the Carrizo Springs Wildcats. Despite a hard-fought effort, the Bulldogs fell short, losing 30-18.
From the opening tip, the Bulldogs focused on playing tight defense, successfully neutralizing the Wildcats' key shooters. The defensive intensity was evident as Bandera deployed an effective press, forcing Carrizo Springs into multiple turnovers. However, the Bulldogs struggled to convert those opportunities into points on the other end of the court. The Bulldogs showed great determination and glimpses of improvement, with small but significant elements of their game coming together. This game highlighted their defensive grit and teamwork, leaving coaches and fans excited about the progress made and the potential for the final two games of the season.

8th Grade B Team
The 8th grade girls B basketball team lost to Carrizo Springs 12 to 14. The Lady Bulldogs trailed Carrizo the entire game and were down 8 to 14 at the end of the third quarter. However, behind tenacious defense, the Bulldogs held Carrizo scoreless in the 4th quarter and had several opportunities to take the lead, but couldn't make the shots fall.
Emma McClintock had 7 rebounds, 6 different Bulldogs scored points, and Lilly Cabrerra and Kamilla Vasquez each had 5 steals. This loss brings the season record to 3 wins and 3 losses.
7th Grade A-Team
Monday night, the 7th grade A-Team came out fast and furious holding their own against Carrizo Springs. It wasn’t until the fourth quarter when CS took the lead. They scored and fought hard catching up at the end but ran out of time, with a score of 31-24. Their record is now 3-3 on the season.
Stat Leaders: Brenna Bryd- 9 points, 3 steals, 1 block and 7 rebounds. Harper Hicks- 7 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, 1 assist and 2 blocks. Harper Hartsfield- 2 points, 8 rebounds, 6 steals, 1 block and 1 assist. June Flowers- 2 points, 1 steal and 2 rebounds. Colbie LaLanne- 4 points, 2 steals, 2 rebounds and 1 block. Vannessa Gonzales- 4 steals, 2 rebounds and 1 assist. Karina Young-3 rebounds and 3 steals. Cataleya Valles- 1 steal. Olivia Lane- 1 rebound.
7th Grade B-Team
The 7th grade B-Team beat Carrizo Springs with a score of 8-7, improving their record to 3-3 on the season. Even though it was a big defensive battle between both teams, the Lady Dogs still managed to outscore CS and never gave up.
Stat Leaders: Emma Spofford- 1 rebounds, and 1 steal. Aspen Collazo- 6 points, 4 rebounds, 6 steals and 1 block. Kaycee Putney- 2 rebounds. Hayley Capps- 1 rebound and 2 steals. Sally King- 1 steal. Michelle Melton- 1 steal and 1 block. Emily Short- 1 steal and 2 rebounds. Olivia Rynarzewski- 2 points and 1 rebound.
The Lady Dogs have a bye week and will continue to work on things that will get them prepared for their next opponents, Uvalde (Jan. 30) and Devine (Feb. 6).
