Bandera girls soccer dominates Hondo in shutout win

By Brady Keane

The Bandera girls soccer team picked up a 3-0 win over the Hondo Owls on the road Tuesday night, kicking off the post-tournament portion of their season with a strong performance.
The Lady Bulldogs wasted no time getting on the board as Merry Robinson found the net early, with Kaylee Fried setting up the scoring opportunity and tallying an assist. Bandera controlled possession for much of the match, sharing the ball effectively to keep the Lady Owls on their heels. Just before halftime, Fried scored off an assist from Robinson, giving Bandera a 2-0 lead heading into the break.
In the second half, the Lady Bulldogs continued to dominate possession and sealed the win with Robinson’s second goal of the night. The Bandera defense held strong, ensuring the shutout and helping secure the team’s first win since tournament season wrapped up.
“Our passing and possession tonight were the best they’ve been all season,” Bandera Head Soccer Coach Brian Davis said. “The girls did a great job executing the game plan and staying aggressive from start to finish. It was a solid team win.”
The Lady Bulldogs will enjoy a brief break before returning to action at home against Lockhart on Jan. 21.
“This was a great way to start the second phase of the season,” Davis said. “The girls are playing with confidence, and we’ll look to build on that as we get ready for Lockhart next week.”
