Frontier Times Museum nominated as one of U.S. best museums
Frontier Times Museum Staff
Bandera’s own Frontier Times Museum has been nominated for Best Small Town Museum as part of the national newspaper, USA Today’s 10 Best’s Readers’ Choice Awards.
The museum was one of 20 small town museums across the country that was nominated as the best in showcasing local stories, traditions and achievements of their community by a panel of professional travelers.
Museums that focus on a small town or region can offer a unique perspective on the history, culture and identity of a place, and provide fascinating community insight to visitors. They're often some of the most interesting places to check out when you're traveling. Opening in 1933, the Frontier Times Museum has been telling local stories for more than 90 years.
USA Today is asking everyone to vote on their favorite museum. “We’re thrilled that we have been nominated as one of the best small town museums in the whole country,” Executive Director Rebecca Norton said. “Now we’re asking everyone in Bandera County to help us be chosen as the Best Small Town Museum by voting for us online. We’re currently number eight of 20, so we want to get the votes in to bring us to number one.”
Voting is easy. Just go to 10best.usatoday.com/awards/travel/best-small-town-museum-2025/frontier-times-museum-bandera-texas/ or to the museum’s Facebook page. The Bandera County Historical Commission and the Bandera County Visitor and Convention Bureau also have the post on their Facebook pages - click the link for the ballot. The museum staff also welcomes you to come by the museum and to see why it was nominated and they are happy to help you cast your vote.
Voting is open every day until ballots close on Monday, Feb. 10, at 11:59 a.m. EST. The top 10 winners, as ranked by USA TODAY 10 Best readers, will be announced Wednesday, Feb. 19, at noon EST.
