Boys soccer extends winning streak with two more victories

The Bandera Prophet
The Bandera boys soccer program continued its strong start to the season with wins over Pleasanton and Great Hearts Northern Oaks while shutting out both teams in a pair of strong defensive efforts.
In last Friday’s 5-0 win over Pleasanton, Jace Knowles scored four goals while Quin King, Diego Gomez and Nino Martinez each earned an assist. Noah Waller added a goal, and Connor Garrett posted his third shutout of the season.
“We are really excited about how the team has been playing so far this year,” Head Coach Westley Miller said. “We did a lot of good things on both sides of the field against Pleasanton, and that showed in the end result.”
Bandera continued that momentum into Tuesday and picked up a 3-0 win over Great Hearts Northern Oaks. While it wasn’t the Bulldogs most impressive win thus far, Garrett posted another shutout with support from Nino Martinez, Keegan Perales, Micah McCreary and Jaymin Klein on the defensive end.
Offensively, Knowles, King and Ibie MacNeil scored a goal apiece while Knowles and Hayden Swalve each tallied an assist.
“It wasn’t our best game and the players knew it after the final whistle, but that shows how focused they are to reach our goals for the season,” Miller said.
Bandera will be back in action tonight at New Braunfels Long Creek in the final non-district game of the season. The Bulldogs, who are 8-3-1 thus far, will open district play on Feb. 7 against Davenport.
