Winning week for Medina ISD

Winning ways continued for Medina ISD the week of March 17 through 22. Medina softball and baseball both went 2 and 0 for the week, tennis brought home numerous medals from the Sabinal Tennis Tournament, and golf completed the Leakey Tournament as Runner-Up Champions.
The two softball wins were a defeat of Menard by a score of 27-5 and Richland Springs 16-5. In the Menard contest, the Lady Cats were led offensively by Hallie Kunz and Kailey McCabe, who each tallied 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Audrey Gatlin added in 4 RBIs of her own. Hattie Barton earned the win on the mound. Against Richland Springs Kunz was perfect at the plate going 4 for 4 with 3 RBIs. Brooke Mancha and Gatlin each earned 3 hits to aid in the win. Barton struck out 5 Richland Springs batters to seal the victory.
In baseball action, the Bobcats victories were over OLH-Kerrville 15-5 and Leakey 5-4 in their district opener. Anthony Silva was exceptional at bat compiling 3 hits and 3 RBIs. In the Leakey game, Davis Peterson struck out a total of 16 batters to get the win with Ty Jones coming in in relief for the save.
Medina tennis participated in the Sabinal Tournament on Wednesday, March 19. The following athletes earned medals for the day:

3rd place Boys Singles: JT Kunz
4th place Girls Singles: Ella Castillo
4th place Girls Doubles: Hallie Kunz & Crista Zirkel
5th place Girls Doubles: Brooke Mancha & Brylee Joseph
B Bracket:
2nd place Girls Singles: Makenna Gourley
2nd place Girls Doubles: Hattie Barton and Zoey Taylor
3rd place Mixed Doubles: Mia Garcia & Tony Silva
Medina Golf had their own successful week earning their first placing of the year as a team. Davis Peterson was also the 3rd place medalist individually.
