By Brady Keane
The Bandera Prophet

The Bandera girls track team placed 4th overall at the District 26-4A track meet last week and had six individual athletes qualify for the area meet.
The highlight of the meet was yet another school record time in the 4x200m relay, as Merry Robinson, Milesia Casas, Sydney Moore and Kinlee Lawlis posted a 1:41.43 to place 1st and break their own school record.
Lawlis, who also placed first in the 100m dash and the 200m dash, broke her own school record in the 200m as well with a time of 24.23.
Other area qualifiers included Merry Robinson in the 200m dash (3rd place finish), Sydney Moore in the 100 hurdles (1st place finish), Madison Davis in the shot put (3rd place finish), and Lawlis in the long jump (3rd place finish). The 4x400m relay team of Robinson, Casas, Moore and Jazlyn Dickerson also advanced with a 2nd place finish.
Davis, Casas, Dickerson, Lawlis, Moore and Robinson will be competing at the area track meet in Wimberley on Wednesday, April 9, with a chance to move on to the Class 4A Region IV meet later this month.
“I was extremely proud of the girls and how they performed at district,” Bandera coach Brooke Ashcraft said. “The physical and mental part is really coming along – now it’s the little things that we are focusing on.”
