The Bandera girls golf team had a strong showing at the Buckhorn Golf Course in Comfort at the District 26-4A Tournament late last week, with freshman Isabella Pace leading the way by placing third overall individually.
Pace shot a 73 on Day 1 of the tournament and a 78 on Day 2, securing the first-place medalist designation (top individual outside of the top two teams) and a trip to the Class 4A Region IV Tournament in Victoria on April 14-15.
Lilly D’Spain also had an impressive tournament, finishing just nine strokes out of advancing to the Regional Tournament. Other competitors for the Bulldogs included Isabella Chapa and Mary Freeman.
“I’m really proud of the effort and growth of our entire team,” Bandera coach Cody Carruthers said. “We did a lot of good things at the district tournament and are very excited to have an opportunity for Isabella to compete at the regional tournament next week. This is a great step forward for our program, and we’re looking forward to seeing how she performs on a bigger stage.”
