Bandera County Judge Richard Evans today lifted the countywide burn ban.
Beneficial rains, followed by mild temperatures, have been enough to provide enough relief to lift the ban, which was due to expire today, and on March 27 had been extended.
As of April 8, the Keetch Byram Drought Index, which measures dryness, ranked Bandera County with a value of 400-500, midrange on the scale. The Texas A&M Fire Danger map on April 7 ranked the county between moderate and high.
Citizens are still urged to monitor Red Flag Warning Days, on which no burning of any kind is permitted, including household trash in barrels, small burn pits or barbecuing. Welding, cutting and grinding are also restricted on Red Flag days.
